# ChatStack MCP

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) lets an AI assistant call ChatStack directly. You get the interview, the PRD, and later the portal tools — without copying a document into the chat.

## Why use MCP instead of a pasted PRD

A pasted file goes stale. MCP keeps the assistant on the live pack: it can run the interview, then (after you submit) read and update stories, requirements, and the build prompt from the portal. ## Two servers

## Which clients

Cursor, Claude Desktop, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Windsurf, OpenClaw, and other hosts that accept an MCP server. Some hosts use a settings UI or Streamable HTTP instead of a `mcpServers` JSON file — the URLs are the same. ChatGPT users can also enable the [published plugin](https://www.chatstack.app/chatgpt-plugin.md) instead of pasting a server address.

### What is the difference between interview MCP and portal MCP?

Interview MCP needs no account and runs the interview through submit. Portal MCP needs a personal access token after a PRD exists, and can keep editing the pack, including Improve and Build.
